Facts and Stats: China

Our resident statistician @F1StatMan takes a look at the Chinese Grand Prix. Naturally, the stats are a little bit Hamilton/Mercedes heavy, but hard not to be with that race and their previous performances!

Hamilton’s 54th race win
Mercedes 75th pole at 150th race

Vettel’s 88th podium

Hamilton’s 20th fastest lap for Mercedes

Verstappen out of Q1, started 16th, finished third, Webber only other man to drop out of Q1 in China and finish on the podium

Sainz only driver starting on slicks, after everyone pitted was consistently third fastest man on track for 15-20 laps

100th race Red Bull have finished on the podium in

Hamilton’s fifth win in China and fifth for Mercedes

Mercedes have now won the most races in China, having won their first race there (on their return to F1)

Mercedes have the last six pole positions in China

Safety car caused by Giovinazzi’s crash cost Ferrari a likely win, had it not come out by pitting under the VSC Vettel would have gained a lot of seconds on Hamilton and jumped him in the pits

Hamilton started on pole, led every lap, won and set the fastest lap of the race
